MDPL (mdpl)

Description

The MDPL simulation was performed with the same (1 Gpc/h)3 box size as MDR1, but with more than 6 times higher mass resolution, using nearly 57 billion particles in a cosmology that is consistent with the Planck data (2013). It was performed using the L-Gadget2 code.

Some details can be found in Klypin et al. 2014.

Tables

Table Description
AvailHalos
mdpl.availhalos

Gives an overview on the snapshots, for which halo data are stored in the FOF or BDM tables. It additionally gives the number of halos/FOF groups for each snapshot.

BDMW
mdpl.bdmw

BDM catalogue for all available snapshots, calculated using 200ρcrit (critical density) for defining the halo boundary.
bdmIid = snapnum*1011 + nincat

FOF
mdpl.fof

Main Friends-of-Friends catalogue for all available snapshots, level 0. Contrary to the Bolshoi and MDR1 simulation, a relative linking length of 0.20 was used.
fofid = (snapnum*10+level)*1011 + ninfile

FOF1
mdpl.fof1

Friends-of-Friends catalogue for all available snapshots, same as FOF-table, but for smaller (relative) linking lengths (factor 2 for each step), levels 1 (linking length 0.10) to 5 (linking length 0.00625). Thus these tables contain substructures of the FOF groups.

FOF2
mdpl.fof2

Friends-of-Friends catalogue for all available snapshots, same as FOF-table, but for smaller (relative) linking lengths (factor 2 for each step), levels 1 (linking length 0.10) to 5 (linking length 0.00625). Thus these tables contain substructures of the FOF groups.

FOF3
mdpl.fof3

Friends-of-Friends catalogue for all available snapshots, same as FOF-table, but for smaller (relative) linking lengths (factor 2 for each step), levels 1 (linking length 0.10) to 5 (linking length 0.00625). Thus these tables contain substructures of the FOF groups.

FOF4
mdpl.fof4

Friends-of-Friends catalogue for all available snapshots, same as FOF-table, but for smaller (relative) linking lengths (factor 2 for each step), levels 1 (linking length 0.10) to 5 (linking length 0.00625). Thus these tables contain substructures of the FOF groups.

FOF5
mdpl.fof5

Friends-of-Friends catalogue for all available snapshots, same as FOF-table, but for smaller (relative) linking lengths (factor 2 for each step), levels 1 (linking length 0.10) to 5 (linking length 0.00625). Thus these tables contain substructures of the FOF groups.

LinkLength
mdpl.linklength

Overview on levels for FOF groups and corresponding linking lengths (for FOF, FOF1 – FOF5 tables)

Redshifts
mdpl.redshifts

Overview on snapshot numbers (snapnum) and corresponding redshifts
