All images and movies provided here are free for download and usage in talks, posters, etc. For some images, higher resolution versions may be available on request – just send us an email with the image name, the required size, the purpose and a date when the image should be ready for you (you can also use our Contact for that).

MDPL2 – Multidark Planck 2 simulation
FOF-halos from a slice through the MultiDark Planck 2 simulation (MDPL2) at redshift z = 0 (snapshot 125), x-y-plane. The slice is about 4.9 Mpc/h thick and encloses the region of the most massive halo in this simulation. The image shows the distribution of FOF halos, the size of points was correlated with their mass, overlaying dots are emphasized by brighter color. The image was created using Topcat and the data from following query: select x,y,z, mass, size from MDPL2.FOF where snapnum=125 and iz between 981 and 985

These pictures show a slice through the simulation volume with about 1 Mpc/h thickness, top: 1 Gpc/h side-length, bottom: zoomed-in version. The blue-brown background indicates the underlying matter density; in the foreground tiny yellow dots represent the galaxies. Each of these galaxies is embedded in its own dark matter halo, visible in the zoomed image as circles with colors coding projected density and sizes scaling to the mass of each halo.
